Boullier: The start of the season is forgotten

Lotus-Renault GP hoped that the developments made at the Nürburgring would be sufficient to achieve good results again. But the black and gold single-seaters still lack performance and competition marks its return, leaving only crumbs for the British team. After expressing his dissatisfaction with Nick Heidfeld, Éric Boullier knows that Hungary will be an important step for the team before the summer break.

“I have been expecting better from our car for several races now and we are making progress”, assures the director of Lotus-Renault GP. “But we need to stay focused and make bigger progress.” We are in a real competition, with Force India and Sauber joining the fight for better places. So we have to raise our level of play starting in Hungary. »

The Frenchman admits half-heartedly that the objectives displayed at the start of the season are no longer within the team's reach. “It's no secret that I'm not happy with our situation, no one on the team is. We started well, but it seems far away now and we have to accept the facts. We are no longer in the rhythm and we are making great efforts to come back. We have made developments in Germany which have not produced sufficient impact. We now turn our attention to Hungary to ensure we arrive at the summer break with a good impression. »
