Boullier: “We lack support”

Si Renault has achieved excellent performances this season, Eric Boullier knows that the team?enstone can still progress. The team got closer to the four top teams (McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes) but the team?s team manager affirms that the R30 is not yet complete. “ We are missing a bit of downforce, a bit of aerodynamics, in order to make the tires work better, to have a car that is more comfortable and stuck to the ground, and general grip allowing us to pick up a few tenths. », he says in the Renault podcast F1.

In fact, if the Renault R30 is not the best in the field, the third place acquired by Robert Kubica in Monaco is, according to Eric Boullier, largely due to the Polish driver. “ Robert has a very important part in the success of the weekend in terms of performance. The first row (in qualifying), we owe it to Robert, to his talent and his ability to drive in the streets of Monaco between the rails. The car is certainly easy to drive but it is not quite at the top in terms of performance. Robert did an incredible job. »

But, despite the aerodynamic shortcomings of the R30 and the performance of Robert Kubica, Eric Boullier is also satisfied with the behavior of the Enstone car, which can struggle against certain cars in the top 4. It's a very positive weekend which shows that our R30 is good, well born and easy to drive, he declares in the columns of AUTOhebdo. Robert was able to get the most out of this very efficient car on winding, moderately fast and bumpy tracks. »
