Bourdais, the ace of focus

Returning from Le Mans, where the race of his 908 HDi FAP did not go as he would have liked, Sébastien Bourdais can refocus on the Formula 1. And find settings that suit him on his STR 4. While at Le Mans, the Frenchman was able to find a common configuration with two other drivers, he admits that he does not share at all the same sensations as Sébastian Buemi. " We drove two very different cars in terms of settings, confirms Bourdais. I was pretty happy with my setup but when I tried Buemi's, I didn't like it at all. »

It is true that the two drivers do not have the same background, nor the same experience, nor the same way of driving. And Bourdais confirms that Friday's sessions went well, with his own adjustments. “ We returned to our first choice. It went better afterwards, so it gave us a very clear indication of the direction we need to take. We still lack pace but it seems better than in Türkiye. We need to continue to get the most out of our current package until we have an evolution of the car. »

However, Sébastian Buemi recognizes that Bourdais' settings are the best. And the young Swiss recognizes his teammate's talent in finding the right configuration. “ I tried a different approach from him but I think we will go in the direction he took. He seems to have worked better than me, which will help me get the most out of the car during qualifying. » The two Sébs will therefore aim to both climb into Q2 on Saturday during this session. And Bourdais doesn't want to have found the right focus for nothing.
