Bourdais: “We will progress”

Sébastien Bourdais, what are your impressions after Melbourne?

As everyone knows, we arrived in Melbourne with very little driving and for us the first days were a full-scale test session. Qualifying didn't really go well, but then in the race, as always, there were quite a few events. We filled up with fuel when the safety car entered the track. We took a gamble, it worked pretty well. It was good to start the season and finish with both cars in the points. I don't know if in the end we will keep this point that came back to us, but it doesn't matter much. The season is long and we will have a lot of developments to come, which will allow us to increase our level of performance.

The decision to start you in the team was taken quite late. Therefore, do you think that you and your teammate were physically and mentally prepared for the start of the season?

Yes absolutely, especially since I had the opportunity to ride 12 hours before the first race. The biggest problem for us was the knowledge of the car. We were still receiving parts, so it was difficult to know what it was going to be and difficult to decide which problem to tackle. We will obviously progress over time.

If it rains on Sunday, do you think the situation can change, that other teams will fight for victory?

If it rains like today (Editor's note Thursday), will we have to organize a boat race? As far as we are concerned, we have not tested this car in the rain; so it is difficult for me to have an opinion?
