Bourdais wants to bounce back in F1 or elsewhere

From his press release following the announcement of his dismissal by Toro Rosso, Sebastian Bourdais had walled himself in his silence. After a few weeks spent with family, the Manceau came out of his reserve by granting an interview to L?Equipe.

Contrary to what he had said until then, Sébastien Bourdais knew well that he was competing in his last Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Informed of the situation on Wednesday evening, he did not wish to communicate about his future ousting for two reasons: his contract valid for the entire 2009 season and the desire to leave Toro Rosso the possibility of going back. In vain. It was finally through an exchange of SMS that Sébastien Bourdais and Dietrich Mateschitz resolved their separation amicably.

If Toro Rosso does not regret Bourdais, it seems totally mutual. Bourdais describes the methods of his former team as "detestable", believing that nothing was done to make him "feel better in the car". Knowing that the 2009 season would be difficult, Sébastien held on, but he was never able to get used to the behavior of the STR4, suffering from a lack of lateral grip and instability of the rear axle in tight turns. Even if things have not fundamentally changed with the appearance of a ?B? at the Hungaroring, Bourdais said he was frustrated at not having been able to take advantage of the performance gain.

With the Toro Rosso page turned, Sébastien Bourdais is obviously thinking about the future. At 30, he still has good years ahead of him and he still thinks about F1, believing that his experience can be a plus for new teams: “I have always shown motivation. And you can't take away what I did before. And in F1, I did some good things too. This has not always been seen, or it has not always paid off.” The fact remains that Bourdais is not the only one on the market, especially since the announcement of BMW's withdrawal! The future could therefore go through this?Endurance. Second of 24 Hours of Le Mans 2007 and 2009, he is still under contract with Peugeot until the end of the year.

Praised by fans of the four-time ChampCar Champion, the USA track is not easy either. A seat has just become available at Newman-Haas, but the pilot must bring in $5 million. Even with the deduction paid by Red Bull, are we still far from the goal?
