We knew the pitch, a veteran pilot who comes out of retirement to help a promising youngster. We knew the director, Joseph Kosinski, whose latest creation is none other than Top Gun: Maverick. We knew that the film – the title of which has still not been disclosed – is co-produced by Apple Studios, Jerry Bruckheimer and Lewis Hamilton, who participated in writing the screenplay.

We knew that the filming of the film would take place in the paddocks and during events, but we did not yet know that the word "engine" would resonate on the Silverstone set where Brad Pitt, main actor, will be on track between two sessions, alone, without any other car on the tarmac.

Contrary to some rumors, the American star will not be on the track at the same time as the 20 other drivers. He will drive a car F2 adapted by the team Mercedes F1 under the direction of Lewis Hamilton, with a tiny 6K camera installed to capture images “inboard”.

“I don’t know all the shots that will be filmed on the track and in the paddock because I am more focused on the script, explained the seven-time world champion Thursday in Miami. That's what I'm spending all my time on right now, going over the script. We have a really great and diverse cast. Joe (Joseph Kosinski) strives to integrate sports into the storyline as best as possible. For me, it's about making sure that the film is authentic, and that all of you racing fans see it and say "that's believable", and have a different view of racing than this that you might see on television. I'm spending a lot of time at the moment helping Joe and the team put the script together, it's an amazing process. I really appreciate. »
