Brawn bets on Button

Jenson Button, last winter, accepted a clear salary reduction (from 8,6 million to 3,2 million euros) in order to allow Ross Brawn to save the team let go by Honda. Several months after this operation, and after Brawn GP has gleaned the world titles in the drivers' and manufacturers' rankings, Jenson Button would like to see his salary return to a "normal" level, especially for a freshly world champion driver. And certain stables, such McLaren-Mercedes, will not deprive themselves of a great offer to treat themselves to a world champion without breaking the bank.

« We strive to find a balance between what we can afford and what Jenson wants, which is right because of his status and input., Ross Brawn told the BBC. We want Jenson to stay with us and I think we will find an agreement. You can never be 100% sure but I will say 99%. »

« Jenson has a contract with us but, of course, this contract does not offer the salary of a world champion, the salary of a team which is now in a stronger situation than it was ten years ago. month », Continues Ross Brawn.

The boss of the world champion team has set a deadline of two weeks after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to reach an agreement. “ We have limited resources so we need to look at how best to manage this. »
