Brembo donates 1 million euros for research against Coronavirus in Italy

The Brembo company has joined forces with 3 research centers located in the city of Bergamo, one of the Lombard cities most affected by the global health crisis, to contribute to research against the Coronavirus.

The brake system supplier F1 donated 1 million euros to the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital, the Bergamo Hospital Research Foundation (Fondazione per la Ricerca Ospedale di Bergamo, FROM, in Italian) and the Mario Negri Institute.

« After an initial donation, which aimed to support the healthcare services of the Bergamo hospital, we decided to focus our efforts on research with the aim of finding a treatment against COVID-19 in a rapid time frame. ". explained Alberto Bombassei, president of Brembo, in a press release.

While Italy remains one of the regions most affected by the current pandemic, the Italian flagships of Ferrari and Pirelli also provided assistance to the various trans authoritiesalpines.

Last week, the Agnelli family, which notably controls Fiat and Ferrari, had thus sent a donation of 10 million euros to the Italian Civil Protection Department and acquired 150 respiratory assistance devices abroad.

Pirelli, for its part, works hand in hand with the Lombardy government and has already provided some 65 ventilators, 5 protective suits and 000 masks. Employees of the transalpine manufacturer also donated 20 hours of work to the Luigi Sacco hospital in Milan, for a total amount of 000 euros which Pirelli doubled to reach the sum of 7 euros.

In the United Kingdom, the 7 Formula 1 teams totally or partially based on British territory have come together to launch the Pitlane Project intended to help the government produce respiratory assistance devices.

In France, Renault et Peugeot , who had to suspend the activity of their factories because of the health crisis, are in the process of organizing themselves to reorient their production lines in order to produce the ventilators that the country, like the world, sorely needs at the moment. .
