Brexit: what impact on F1?

Great Britain's exit from the European Union, voted in a referendum on Thursday June 23, has caused turmoil on the markets. The future of many sectors is fraught with uncertainty. There F1 is no exception, although most of the teams (eight out of the eleven on the grid) are located in England.

Bernie Ecclestone, the director of the FOM, does not seem worried about the sustainability of the premier single-seater discipline.

“I have supported this idea (of leaving Europe) from the start., admitted the British businessman to Reuters agency. It's the best solution. We should move forward on our own. If we have something to sell, and it's a good product at a good price, people will buy it, whether they're Chinese, Italian or German. »

Ron Dennis, the executive director of McLaren, however, does not share the opinion of the F1 financier.

“McLaren is located in Great Britain (in Woking). More than 3000 families depend on our benefits…, he stressed in The Times. Staying in Europe is fundamental to McLaren's business. »

The economic consequences for Great Britain could be very significant even if specialists struggle to assess the real impact of the country's exit from the EU.
