He left the Formula 1 last year through the back door. Returning to the paddock for the Monaco Grand Prix, Flavio Briatore was in Valencia last weekend for the European Grand Prix. As usual, the whimsical Italian couldn't help but give his opinion on the race. According to him, Lewis Hamilton should have simply been disqualified, a drive-through being far too light a sanction for his taste.
“The rules are not clear, Briatore told Sky Sport 24. You cannot give Hamilton a penalty after 20 laps. It should have been done after two or three. Overtaking the safety car deserves a black flag. Hamilton is lucky, everything he does turns out to his advantage.”
Very angry at the end of the ordeal, Fernando Alonso therefore found an ally in the person of his former mentor.
