The competition director Alpine is he preparing to leave the world of F1 to find the more familiar world of MotoGP after just one short season? This is what is being said in the two flagship championships. After a brilliant career in two-wheelers, crowned with a Drivers' world championship title with the Spaniard Joan Mir in 2020, the former Suzuki team manager chose to take on a new challenge by joining Alpine at the beginning of the year.
Confirmed just days after the surprise departure of the former team principal Renault Cyril Abiteboul, Brivio never managed to find its place in the new organizational chart Alpine, stuck between sports director Alan Permane, executive director Marcin Budkowski, and the CEO of the A arrowed brand, Laurent Red.
Despite his good will and his desire to do well, the man who is described as close to Luca de Meo, big boss of the Renault group, gives the impression of dragging his spleen in the F1 paddock. In these conditions, a return to MotoGP, especially at Suzuki, would be enough to put a smile on the face of the 57-year-old Italian. So Brivio: will leave, will not leave?
“Let’s just say that there is rarely so much smoke without fire…”, replied an apparently well-informed source. Casting errors can happen in motorsport as elsewhere. The important thing is to recognize them in order to minimize the impact for both parties.
