Brundle: 'Don't underestimate Schumi'

Former Schumi team at Benetton in 1992, Martin Brundle wanted to warn Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Felipe Massa and others. Michael Schumacher doesn't come back for fun, and they would be wrong to underestimate his threat. According to the former resident of the Jordan team, the seven-time German world champion has lost none of his aggressiveness despite three years off.

?I think last summer, when he was close to riding again for Ferrari, he was very disappointed not to be able to come back, and that is certainly what gave him back his enthusiasm. Clearly he went away, as he himself says, to recharge his batteries and now he wants to drive again, the BBC commentator told Crash.net Radio. The average age of the field is decreasing more and more with drivers like Hag. There is someone 41 years old coming back. It will be interesting to see what he manages to do. I think he will still be aggressive. He will certainly encounter opposition that has never been so strong. Before he only had to worry about one man like Mika Hakkinen, but this year he will have three or four world class drivers who will be there to complicate his task. I think it's going to be hard for him but I wouldn't underestimate him.?

Concerning the other title contenders, Martin Brundle, unlike many, would not bury his compatriot Jenson Button too quickly but has more doubts about Felipe Massa:

“Jenson is not going to get eaten by Lewis, because he is the reigning world champion and there is a reason for that. It's a big challenge for him, he will have to establish links with his new engineers, which is not easy. It's like a new start but it's not impossible. If the tires require a cast driving style, which is likely to be the case with heavier single-seaters than in the past, then it could be in Jenson's favor. . Felipe, for his part, has always known how to raise his level at the right times, it remains to be seen whether his accident last year did not? unaffected. I think his main problem is Alonso who will quickly take over the team. »

The 2010 season promises to be grandiose according to Martin Brundle. A minimum of four world champions on the track, maybe five with Jacques Villeneuve, and battles at all levels.
