Button has reason to be disappointed with his penalty in Monaco

Jenson Button made a great comeback with McLaren at the Monaco GP where he replaces Fernando Alonso entered in the Indy 500. The MCL32s were faster on the urban circuit of Le Rocher since they were both qualified for Q3, but they will have to move back on the grid for various sanctions.

Jenson Button will start from the back of the grid after receiving a 15-place penalty following a change of MGU-H and turbo on his McLaren.

“No matter how many races you race, it always hurts, recognizes Jenson Button. We could have both (with Stoffel Vandoorne) started in the points and that is all the more regrettable, but it is never easy. »

Jenson Button remains in good spirits after displaying such good performances given the potential of his MCL32.

“I was very satisfied to finish 9th and I really enjoy being here this weekend, admits Jenson Button. It was my last qualifying session and probably one of the best. There F1 I didn't miss it, but I immediately loved coming back. »

Stoffel Vandoorne will start from 12th position after receiving a 3 place penalty at the Spanish GP. The Belgian was unable to participate in Q3 after hitting the rail at the end of Q2.

“The day is still very positive for us, positive Stoffel Vandoorne. We worked well in practice and we were confident going into qualifying. We showed good performances in the first two qualifying sessions, moving between 5th and 7th place. Unfortunately, it ended in an accident, but that's what sometimes happens when you attack to the limit of your horse in Monaco. »

The start of the Monaco Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday from 14 p.m. and will be to follow exceptionally in live streaming on our website.
