Button finds it hard to believe his 3rd place on the grid

Jenson Button's best qualifying result of the season was sixth in Bahrain. The pilot McLaren improved the mark on his national Grand Prix by taking third position behind Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel after highlighting his experience in difficult conditions. “You have no idea how happy I am.”, commented the 2009 world champion in the Silverstone paddock after finishing more than two seconds from pole. “I know it's only a third place on the grid, but for us, at the moment... We didn't have the slightest chance of getting a result like that. It's obviously good to be at the forefront in front of your audience, especially since the performances were there. It is not comparable to Mercedes, but we could measure ourselves against others. »

Jenson Button, however, thought he was trapped like other drivers by the changing conditions of the Silverstone track. “I was about two seconds faster than everyone else when I set my time in Q1 on the medium tyres. But the time was canceled (for not respecting the track limits) when I made a mistake by losing the rear of the car. I thought I was going to come out and finish in third place in Q3 so is a good result for today. »

The start of the British Grand Prix will take place tomorrow at 14 p.m. The race will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos from the weekend can be viewed on this link.
