Button congratulates Brawn GP

Jenson Button, world champion Formula 1 since the Brazilian Grand Prix, contested last Sunday on the Interlagos circuit, has returned to Brackley to share his title with all Brawn GP employees. The English driver was welcomed in the auditorium of the team's head office by a song he knows well, a "We are the champions" which he sang on Sunday at the wheel of his car. " That's why I didn't have a voice for the next two days! “, commented Jenson Button to the Brawn GP staff.

« I am here to say a big congratulations and thank the whole team, continued the Briton. We have worked so hard to achieve this result for years. Some of us have been there since 1998, as for me I arrived halfway in 2003 but everyone gave a lot. »

The new world champion was keen to measure how far he has come to win the world crowns, in the drivers' and manufacturers' championships. “ I know there were a lot of very difficult times and, during the winter, there were times when we thought we wouldn't be here anymore. It's a real shame that all the people who worked on this car are no longer there today (Brawn had to lay off massively at the start of the season, editor's note). The team became smaller to be able to continue and, together, we developed a car that was exceptional this year. »

Even if his teammate, Rubens Barrichello, and the team director, Ross Brawn, were not present at the reception, Jenson Button did not fail to pay tribute to them. “ Rubens brought us two victories at Valencia and Monza, which was important to create emulation and prove that the car was fast. And in Ross, we have a great boss, a fantastic manager. The “Big Bear” can't be here today but when he comes back, he will celebrate with you. We proved in Brazil that we deserved these championships »
