Button handicapped by loss of power

McLaren gradually manages to return to the first part of the peloton even if the MP4-28s are not yet able to fight at the front. The Woking team managed to place its two cars in Q3 despite the difficult conditions encountered during qualifying, but Sergio Pérez dominated his teammate Jenson Button since the Mexican will start from seventh position, two places better than the champion of world 2009.

“I’m not sure what happened on my last lap in Q3”, explains the Briton. “I had a problem with the car, I had no more power and I couldn't do a fast lap. It's a shame because, apart from this problem, we also had positive signs at the end of Q2 which was a superb session for me. The team did a fantastic job putting me on the right tires at the right time. I was confident in my driving, making the most of the conditions. The race will be complicated starting from ninth position, but there was absolutely nothing more I could do. »
