Button: “I will give everything I have”

Author of a remarkable start to the season, Jenson Button has since become more discreet. If he was unlucky in Belgium where he was eliminated by Sébastian Hag, the Briton has only been on the podium once in the last eight Grands Prix.

By leaving Korea without a single point in his pocket, Button had realized the obvious: Retaining his crown would be extremely difficult. But remembering Räikkönen's unexpected coronation in 2007, the pilot McLaren found motivation again. Nothing is impossible, he said to himself. Button will not surrender without a fight, and will try to find strength by remembering his performance last year, which allowed him to be crowned even before the closing round in Abu Dhabi.

“When I came here last season, I learned a very important lesson, admits the outgoing champion. I qualified in 14th position even though my teammate had placed his car on pole. But when I thought it was almost over, I let go and produced some very aggressive driving, one of the best of my career in F1. This is something I will take with me this weekend, because I know that I will not only have to rely on a good result, but also on the failures of my rivals to stay in the fight. Given the situation in the championship, I know that I am facing a big challenge to retain my crown, but I will give everything I have this weekend to stay in the game. I fought hard to win the title in 2009, and I won't give it up without a fight."

If of the five contenders, there is one who has nothing to lose, it is Jenson Button. The Briton will leave with his teeth in his teeth to try to climb to the highest step of the podium. Before counting on the failures of his opponents, it is up to him to do the job...
