Button: Hamilton's bad luck is 'staggering'

The clash between Nico Rosberg et Lewis Hamilton at the Belgian Grand Prix aroused numerous reactions, the affair having gained further intensity following the latest declarations of the 2008 world champion indicating that his rival would have deliberately hit him. If the incident divides opinion, the fact is that this contact largely favored the Championship leader who now finds himself 29 points ahead of the Briton.

Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton's former teammate at McLaren, follows the duel from a distance but wants to support the 2008 world champion who has lacked success lately. “I feel sorry for Lewis. He was in the lead of the race… It’s incredible”, commented the driver of the Woking team to Press Association Sport. “I have never seen such bad luck, or such incomprehension from other drivers, for Lewis to lose so many points in recent races. His bad luck is truly astonishing. Lewis behaved very well with the press after several disappointing races. He has clearly matured, which is good to see, and he knows how to roll with the punches. I hope this builds his confidence rather than shattering it. »

The McLaren driver believes that Nico Rosberg is indeed responsible for the collision at Les Combes on the second lap which caused a puncture on Lewis Hamilton's W05 Hybrid. “I think any driver looking at the footage, and I'm sure Nico will see it, would be like, 'I don't know what I was thinking. » He needs to have better judgment in this type of situation. »
