Button: “the strategy made the difference”

Jenson Button is positioned in an ideal situation before F1 returns to Europe. Three victories in four races, each time on the podium, the Brawn GP driver will arrive in Barcelona with 12 points ahead of his teammate, Rubens Barrichello and 13 points better than Sebastian Vettel, now second.

Button: “the strategy made the difference”

We still have room for improvement, so it's great to arrive in Europe with three victories on the clock and a good lead. »

Second, Sebastian Vettel garnered important points, but would have liked to get this victory. “I had a good start, but I found myself with Lewis by my side. He pushed his magic button and I found myself in the middle of the pack in the first corner,” says the young German. “So I lost places in the first lap. My first stint was very long, I had to pay attention to tire wear. Then I came across Jarno. Too bad, because on ?soft? tires, I could have reduced the gap. I once again stayed longer on the track to be able to overtake the Toyota. I found myself in a different situation in my last stint where I had to defend my second place. Is this a positive result? We will be very close for the rest of the season. »

For Jarno Trulli, however, the disappointment is quite palpable: “I’m disappointed! I expected and wanted to get a first victory for Toyota. Perhaps we have not adopted the right strategy. My second stint was very difficult on the harder tires. I was not very fast compared to the others. Sebastian passed me after my last refueling. I attacked to get back into contact. I tried everything, but it was not possible to do better. You have to be patient, the team is working well, it will come. »
