Button has his feet on the ground

It has now become a habit to see Jenson Button and Ruben Barrichello get on the podium after the finish of a Grand Prix. A habit that emerged from the first turn, when the two drivers took the lead. Button, making a very good start and Barrichello, getting the better of Räikkönen. From then on, the race was almost over, as the Briton admitted at the end of the race: “ Was the race difficult, long, tense? I got off to a good start, Rubens wasn't far behind even though he had tire problems at the rear. I managed to widen the gap and not much happened afterwards. »

Jenson Button, however, had to secure his race, maintain his lead and control his driving until the end. He also recognizes that the last laps are not the easiest: “ The more the race passes, the more we feel that the barriers are getting closer, that the track is narrowing! When the end draws near, we must stop thinking and reflecting, telling ourselves that we are winning this legendary race. You have to concentrate on the track, remember to take the turns well. I knew the car wouldn't let me go, I had to concentrate on my driving. » And, finally, the Briton crossed the line eight seconds ahead of Rubens Barrichello.

But, rather than taking advantage of this success, the leader of the world championship immediately turns to the rest of the season: “ The weekend was fantastic, we did a good job, the car was perfect. We have proven that it works well and that is encouraging for the next races. »
