Button, master in Barcelona

On the sunny Montmelo track, Rubens Barrichello got the best start and took the lead, ahead of Jenson Button. Felipe Massa, thanks to Srec, goes back Sebastian Vettel et le dépasse. Dans le troisième virage, Rosberg touche Trulli, qui part à la faute et revient en piste. La Toyota est heurtée par Sutil et envoie les deux Toro Rosso de Bourdais et Buemi in the decor. The track littered with debris forced the safety car to re-enter the track. And Toro Rosso can already conclude a very dull weekend.

When the safety car comes into the pits, Barrichello holds the pack. Both Renault, lightly loaded with gasoline, are in the game: Piquet struggles with Hamilton whileAlonso, 5th, threatens Webber. Raikkonen did well in the first laps by placing himself in tenth position, in the wake of Heidfeld. In the lead, the Brawn take off and widen the gap on Massa. Kovalainen, for his part, gave up, adding to the gloom at Mc Laren as Hamilton got stuck in twelfth position.

Definitely very unhappy this weekend, Raïkkonen is experiencing reliability problems with his Ferrari. Unable to accelerate anymore, he had to stop at the side of the track. At the same time, his teammate took the lead, Button and Barrichello stopping in the pits. Massa and Vettel imitate them on the ninth lap and the operation benefits the Brazilian. Barrichello, after the burst of stops, has six seconds, then eight, then ten seconds ahead of his teammate. Obviously not loaded with fuel, he is trying to open up a significant gap. Before halfway, the Brazilian pitted for a second time, starting with a three-stop strategy. He comes out in fourth position, behind Button and the Massa-Vettel duo. Behind these four drivers, who are all running at the same pace (1:23:4), Webber and Alonso are losing ground. Far from it, a peloton of five drivers is competing for entry into the points (Heidfeld, Nakajima, Hamilton, Glock, Kubica).

Massa and Vettel, who do nothing without each other, open the second round of pit stops and put on the hard tires for the end of the race. Alonso, 6th, also returns and leaves in front of Hamilton, who tries, on worn soft tires, to hold off the Renault driver. Strategies differ between teams and some drivers delay their second pit stop. By widening the gap at the head of the GP, Button protects himself from a comeback from his teammate, second. If the two Brawns are in the lead, they have made the necessary gap to stop in the pits and start again in the lead. What Button and Barrichello do with seventeen laps remaining.

Vettel, faster than Massa, is blocked by the Ferrari and is becoming impatient in this situation which deprives him of a podium. His teammate Webber did the right thing at the refueling points since he left in front of the duo and is heading towards a podium. The Australian, without making any noise, played his card with finesse. Especially since he follows Barichello, on the lookout for the slightest mistake from the Brazilian. In front, Button flies to a fourth success in five races.

The greatest interest lies in the Massa-Vettel duel. Faster, the Red Bull honks behind the Ferrari. Then comes the new mistake from the Italian team. By radio, Massa is informed that he is running out of gasoline. He must then slow down to save it and thus avoid refueling. This tactic led to him being dropped by Vettel and joined by Alonso, delighted with this windfall. Without any problems, the Brawn GP achieve a new double. Jenson Button, author of a perfect race, scores ten more points and has 41 out of 45 possible.
