Button: “We want this sport to be better. »

The current week must give birth to important decisions for the technical evolution of the F1 from 2017. While a meeting of the F1 Commission took place yesterday at Biggin Hill, Jenson Button spoke to AUTOhebdo, to discuss in particular the directions to take to return to a more demanding F1 both mentally and physically.

“When I started in the early 2000s, F1 cars were still very physical to drive. There were some who could still faint on the podium because a Grand Prix was so physically hard... It was important because it showed that it was a sport for men and not just for machines. It doesn't help to see pilots taking off their helmets, without the slightest trace of sweat...

We don't want to change the world, we just want this sport that we love so much to be better. We want to find single-seaters that leave us wobbling, that are fast and difficult to keep on the line. Technically, current cars are too balanced, and this takes away all power of reflection. »
