Button wins Monaco GP

The Brawn GPs get off to the best start thanks to the lightness of their single-seaters. Rubens Barrichello took the opportunity to overtake Kimi Räikkönen and put himself in the footsteps of Jenson Button, who had ideally started. In back, Lewis Hamilton take advantage of the fact that the BMWs are heavily loaded with gasoline to gain two places. The scourge once again fell on Robert Kubica, who had to quickly go to the pits to change a deflated tire. In front, Sebastian Vettel, slowed down by its soft tires, must contain Felipe Massa. Impatient, the Brazilian wants to overtake the driver Red Bull and makes a mistake in the chicane located after the tunnel. He lets Vettel pass and, unwittingly, Nico Rosberg, who takes advantage of the situation. To change tires, Vettel returns to the pits then sends his car in the scenery in the next round, in Mirabeau. He gives up, just like Buemi and Piquet, after the mistake of the Swiss, who crashed into the rear wing of the Brazilian.

At the front, Rosberg gave it his all but the lead taken by Button in the first laps proved decisive after his first pit stop. After 25 laps of the race, the Briton dominated the Grand Prix, ahead of Kovalainen and Webber, who were exempt from an early pit stop. In fourth position, Barrichello keeps Massa, Räikkönen and Alonso. Kovalainen and Webber returned to the pits, allowing the second Brawn to move back into second position. During this time, Kubica, definitely not ready, had to retire after 30 laps.

In the lead without contest, Button flies away, with 15?? ahead at mid-race. He even overtook himself, on the 37th lap, for a lap lead over the reigning world champion, Lewis Hamilton. Behind, the Ferrari de Räikkönen and Massa try to get back on Barrichello's Brawn.

Bourdais enters the pits for the first time and regains his eighth place, behind Alonso, thanks to Kovalainen's retirement. At the front, the two Brawns are still ahead of the two Ferraris, with Rosberg and Webber in ambush behind Massa. Alonso (8th), sees the tires of his predecessors deteriorate rapidly, regaining 2?? seconds per lap on Webber. But, having started too far, the Spaniard could not come back and had to be content with this seventh place. Behind him, Bourdais and Fisichella kept up the pace and seemed unwilling to enter the pits a second time. The Frenchman held on to his point of eighth place and finished the race on his soft tires, which usually deteriorate very quickly.

The end of the race did not offer any major surprises, so Jenson Button crossed the finish line in the lead, with 8?? ahead of his teammate Rubens Barrichello. Ferrari raised the bar and followed the Brawn with the 3rd and 4th places of Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa. Mark Webber (Red Bull) finishes right behind Massa. Fernando Alonso finished 7th, four seconds behind Rosberg (6th). Sébastien Bourdais, with courage, finished in the points (8th), just ahead of Fisichella. Once again, the Brawn were impregnable.
