Button repels the pressure

Jenson Button has been the man to beat since the start of the year, for the drivers of Formula 1. Winner of the first race of the year, then five of the following six events, the Briton has never left first place in the rankings. But many people imagine a remake of the Räikkönen scenario-Hamilton of season 2007.

In 2007, Kimi Räikkönen, with two races remaining, was 17 points behind Lewis Hamilton, before winning the last two races (20 points), while the Briton only collected two points. The pilot Red Bull David Coulthard, who imagines Sebastian Vettel imitate this scenario and catch up with his 16-point deficit on Jenson Button, notably asserted on the BBC that “ this is a gap which is smaller than that which Kimi Räikkönen had two years ago. »

Despite all this apparent pressure, Jenson Button is continuing his season calmly. The Briton thinks he has all the assets to be crowned world champion. “ It's about not making mistakes, says the Brawn GP driver. That?s the only important thing. I don't feel under pressure. On the contrary, the closer we get to the end of the season, the more pressure is placed on those who are chasing me »

Before going to Brazil, Jenson Button is not worried. If local driver Rubens Barrichello hopes to win in front of his home crowd, the Briton is not the man to worry unnecessarily. “ Is this an interesting situation? But Rubens and I get along well so we'll see when we get there. I'm not worried. I still have a lead of 14 points, let's not forget that. »
