Button remains reserved about his performance

Jenson Button had indicated that he would do his best to delay the coronation of Sebastian Vettel. But the Briton will have difficulty delaying the inexorable event since the leader only needs one point to be crowned. Nevertheless, the 2009 world champion did the job by achieving the best times in free practice and being the only one to have gone below the 1:32 mark (1:31:901).

The pilot McLaren is already satisfied with the behavior of his car on the Suzuka route. “It’s only Friday but the car is good here,” underlines Jenson Button. “I'm pretty happy with my day but we still need to improve a lot to really be confident and go for it. Red Bull. There are still a few areas where we are a little weak. We need to adjust the balance and we might be able to stay at the front tomorrow morning. »

The Briton knows well that Red Bull is hiding its game for the moment and that the pace will be higher tomorrow. He is also wary of Ferrari, which seems to be in better shape on the Japanese track. “We do not yet know the real performance”, insists the former world champion. “They are very fast but I don’t think we are slow. We never know the quantities of gasoline on board. Ferrari perhaps carried more fuel than usual because they had a difficult race in Singapore. We can only concentrate on our work. »
