Button smiles again at Hockenheim

Sebastian Vettel although he had taken the advantage over Jenson Button at the end of the race, the driver McLaren was able to take the points for second place following the penalty imposed on the driver Red Bull for an illegal overtaking on the Briton. It is a relief for the 2009 world champion who had not produced such a good performance since the Chinese GP played last April and who had only scored seven points in six races. “It feels good to get back on the podium and take good points”, rejoices the McLaren driver. “I was satisfied with the balance of my car and I felt confident. The results did not follow because the car was not fast enough. I'm gaining a lot of confidence from this event and I'm happy to be here. »

Jenson Button could have done even better by returning to the wheels of Fernando Alonso during the last relay. But the Asturian effectively defended his leading position and left his competitors to fight for the places of honor. “I couldn't attack Fernando in the last stint. You really have to attack when you're in the middle of a three-way fight. You have to watch the driver behind you while trying to pass the one in front. I probably attacked more at the start of the last stint trying to overtake Fernando because you can control your race. It was tight but Fernando, like all of us, knew how to use his SREC perfectly to stay in front, not only in the DRS zone but also on the rest of the circuit. The gap remained a little too large for me to attempt a maneuver. I'm a little disappointed but the race was still enjoyable. »
