Button enjoys qualifying

Jenson Button did not expect to start so well on the starting grid of the Austrian Grand Prix. The pilot McLaren will start from the third row behind Lewis Hamilton et Nico Hulkenberg after taking advantage of Nico Rosberg's penalties and Sebastian Vettel.

The Briton managed to quickly acclimatize to the drying track during the final qualifying session on the Red Bull Ring and set the fifth time almost two seconds from the pole of the three-time world champion.

“We were fast in Q3 on the grooved tires and we weren't too bad on the slicks either, explained the 2009 world champion. It's fantastic to start from third place on the grid, I'm going to enjoy this moment. I got a little lucky and grabbed it. We haven't had many this year. »

“I love these conditions and I wish we encountered them more often, added the Briton. I saved everything for the last round. I took a lot of risks and fortunately we weren't stopped by any yellow flags. Certain track conditions allow you to take full advantage of the car and they were beneficial to my riding style. »

His teammate Fernando Alonso was less successful since the double world champion failed in 14th position after a bad strategy proposed by his team. Jenson Button, however, narrowly qualified for the last qualifying session.
