If Fernando Alonso's victory in Valencia moved the F1 paddock, Jenson Button wonders about the enthusiasm aroused by the Asturian. For the Briton, the most impressive was indeed Sebastian Vettel.

Button: “Too much licking with Alonso”

Fernando Alonso made the colors of Spain shine by winning the European Grand Prix in Valencia. The pilot Ferrari took advantage of the abandonments of Sebastian Vettel et Romain Grosjean to take the lead of the race while victory seemed destined for the driver Red Bull who quickly created a solid lead after the intervention of the safety car. If the Asturian carried out a very good operation in the Championship, the Austrian team produced a performance identical to those experienced last year. Jenson Button, surprised by the RB8's performance, does not understand why all eyes are on the Spaniard when the reigning world champion represents a potentially greater threat.

“There was a lot of talk about Alonso's victory”, declared Jenson Button in The Express. “I don’t know what’s going on, it’s quite weird. Most drivers F1 are really talented and many will play the title. Alonso won his national Grand Prix with everything going in his favor. Sometimes we try this and end up in the wall. Is his performance formidable? No, he did a very good job. The one that proved formidable was Red Bull. The pace set by Sebastian Vettel was impressive. We haven't had that for a while. »
