Button wants to do “much more”

At the age of 33, Jenson Button has little left to prove in F1. The Briton is perhaps not the fastest in the field but he is considered a great in the discipline, especially since he joined the list of world champions in 2009 with Brawn GP. If his reputation is well established, the pilot McLaren has lost none of his motivation and does not feel ready to follow the path of Mark Webber who left Red Bull Racing with 37 springs on the clock. “Exciting years are coming with the new regulations in 2014 and with our new engine manufacturer Honda in 2015. So I clearly want to be there in the coming years.”, he assured the Daily Mail. “I’m 33 years old and I’ve been in F14 for 1 years. It seems incredibly long and I never thought for a moment that I would still be riding when I started at 20. But I still feel young enough, even though I have a stupid beard at the moment, and I still have a lot more to do in the discipline. »

Defending the colors of McLaren for four seasons, the former champion is preparing to begin a new chapter with the Woking team which is working hard to design a car performing and recovering after a particularly laborious year with zero podiums on the line. “After such a bad season, we really want to learn from our mistakes. If we succeed, I think we will be a stronger team.", adds the one who will play next year alongside the rookie Kevin Magnussen 12 years his junior. “Red Bull did a very good job winning four titles in a row, but the rules hadn't really changed in that time and they're going to change a lot. I approach 2014 thinking that the team can win. It's another question whether we are able to develop a competitive car or not. »
