Three-quarters of the grid at the end of their contract, a transfer of the century and twists and turns that make you not know what to do with them: the silly season – crazy season in French – has rarely lived up to its name as well as in 2024. The kickoff to a completely crazy transfer window was given by the announcement of the departure of Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari from February 1st, before the transfers and extensions continued until the very end of the year when Isack Hadjar was announced at Racing Bulls in December, becoming the 20th and final driver confirmed for 2025. After this busy year, 2025 logically promises to be quieter: apart from Lawson, tsunoda, Doohan, Russell and Antonelli, all the drivers already have a contract for 2026.
At McLaren, long-term extensions ofOscar piastri and Lando Norris leave little room for doubt: the papaya duo is here to stay. Same

It's true that the situation at McLaren will inevitably become toxic. But they will probably do like Prost and Senna, they will manage to coexist for at least 2 years with a title each (that's the worst I wish for them). So McLaren is pretty blocked until at least the end of 2026 before the rivalry becomes untenable and one of the two leaves elsewhere. Which sends Verstappen to Mercedes again...

We haven't finished discussing 2026! After Hamilton's bombshell start to 2024 at Ferrari, I can see Verstappen arriving at Mercedes in 2026 between the performance of the RB21, the management of the 2nd seat at Red Bull Racing and the Red Bull Powertrain Ford 2026. And if Toto has said that he won't be looking elsewhere during the 2025 season, if the opportunity to attract the Dutchman is confirmed, he won't hesitate to sacrifice Russell and keep his nugget Antonelli, whom he ardently defended in front of the Mercedes Board. Note that Russell was seen in Shanghai in "one to one" discussions with Il Magnifico Brille A Tort, who wouldn't rule out changing his duo...

I don't believe in the Piastri/Norris relationship lasting. Lando will quickly become annoyed by his teammate, who is already determined to take first place. I can see Lando teaming up with Max at Mercedes... that would be a very big move from Toto, as big as Ferrari's move with Lewis😂

For Verstappen, the problem has been present since the second half of 2: the car only allows him to win occasionally, the management of his teammates is perplexing and provides him with no support, and the Ford engine is a leap into the unknown, not to mention the departure of Newey. In fact, staying at RBR is of no interest to aim for other titles. The question is where to go? Mercedes is reaching out to him and would probably sacrifice Antonelli (which would be a shame given the driver's astonishing maturity); at McLaren and Ferrari it is blocked; it would therefore remain to join Newey at Aston-Martin where he would also find the Honda engine. But there too, the car is not showing the expected progress... The least risky choice would be Mercedes.
