First officially canceled, then mentioned again after the relaxation of health rules in the country, the Chinese Grand Prix will indeed not take place this season.

The slot occupied by the Shanghai circuit (April 14-16) will not be taken by another destination, and no other date on the calendar Formula 1 will not be modified.

In short: the 2023 season will still be the longest ever in the premier category, but it will “only” include 23 meetings.

After the launch of the championship in Bahrain (March 3-5), F1 will travel to Saudi Arabia (March 17-19), then to Australia (March 31-April 2). We will have to wait almost a month before returning to the premier category of the car !

The weaning will take place between April 2 and… 30, where drivers and teams will meet in Baku (Azerbaijan) for the first double-header of the season (sequence of two GPs in quick succession) since the Azerbaijani round will be followed by the second edition of the Miami Grand Prix (May 5-7).

In 2019, the Shanghai circuit was the setting for the 1000th Grand Prix in history. But since 2020, China has not been able to host Formula 1. The health situation linked to Covid-19 in the country made it impossible for the event to run smoothly.

The gradual lifting of quarantine and isolation measures had given hope to the promoters of the Chinese Grand Prix of being the 24th of this already extraordinary season. The latter even contacted Formula 1 to consider a return of the event to the calendar

To fill this empty slot, the names of the Grands Prix of Portugal in Portimão or of Turkey in Istanbul had been mentioned. Ultimately, the top of the single-seater pyramid did not set its sights on any of them.

Too bad there isn't a Portuguese GP, oops!

Too bad there isn't a Portuguese GP on the Portimao track! As for the Baku / Miami double-header, what a great carbon footprint... why not combine the superficial Miami and the authentic Montreal?
