Max Verstappen continues its momentum on the side of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. After dominating the first free practice session, the Dutchman once again raised his name to the top of the timesheet this Friday, while the end of the day in Quebec was marked by a sudden darkening of the sky and light conditions. It's simple, the pilot Red Bull led the session from start to finish, each time improving his mark by almost half a second.

From the start, Max Verstappen established a benchmark on medium tires, setting a 1'15″096, which was at that time six tenths better than Leclerc, who was on Soft tires. After fifteen minutes of session, Max improved to achieve a time of 1'14"532, still on Mediums, before setting his best time a little before the halfway point of the session, this time on soft compounds, in 1'14"127. After losing half a second in FP1, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) has come considerably closer to the Batavian at only 81 thousandths.

After complaining a lot about the rebound in the first part of the session, Carlos Sainz finally took third position by 2 tenths, just ahead of a very surprising Sebastian Vettel. The pilot Aston Martin, the latest pole-sitter here in Montreal, set the fourth fastest time of the session (+0″315). The German is accompanied in the top 5 by another world champion, Fernando Alonso.

The Spaniard (+0″416), 3rd in EL1, confirms his good form, both on one lap and on the long stints. As in Baku, Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) is also in the mix (+0″752), while his compatriot Esteban Ocon ranks 10th. Side Mercedes, George Russell is still well ahead Lewis Hamilton with 0″4 in advance. As in Azerbaijan, both McLaren they move between 8th and 9th position. To note that Valtteri Bottas did not sign a single trick.
