  • Lewis Hamilton Is he trying to repeat the experience of Hungary last year, where he was looking for a surprise pole position on the Magyar turnstile? For the moment, we must know how to maintain reason, because this is not the first time that the Mercedes shines in free practice before completely disappearing from traffic when qualifying arrives. Lewis Hamilton in any case flew through the session, signing the fastest mark in front Max Verstappen (+0 »374) and his teammate George Russell (+0 »408). Not sure, however, that the track will be dry at 22 p.m. this Saturday evening.
  • At Red Bull, the pilots in any case continued to complain, without much surprise given the skepticism displayed on Thursday about their ability to shine here in Canada. On the medium rubber, Sergio Pérez in fact pointed out a lack of grip, while Max Verstappen complained of rebound, particularly at turn 1. The Batavian still set the 2nd fastest time of the day, when Sergio Pérez was 9th.
  • At Ferrari, Charles Leclerc appeared worried, repeating over and over that the car was slow. The Monegasque only set the 10th time at a full 8/10 of the reference time, while Carlos Sainz is 12th to 1 second from the reference time. We will have to raise the bar within the Team during the next 2 hours.
  • The stage location Lance stroll signed the 4th time, clearly ahead of Fernando Alonso, only 8th. McLaren, which was announced as a possible contender for victory, is somewhat on the decline like Ferrari, more than 7/10th of the reference time.
  • Like the day before in EL1, Guanyu-Zhou made a mistake to the point of causing a red flag. The Chinese, who is negotiating his seat for 2025, is not currently in great spirits on the Montreal side. This time he lost grip at the rear of his car at turn 3, and hit the rear axle.
  • Alex Albon left his mark on the wall of champions by hitting the right rear wheel in the last ten minutes. The Thai was nevertheless able to return to his garage to carry out the necessary repairs. Max Verstappen, three-time world champion, also went there in the final moments, with less apparent damage! The limits are found this way!
  • On the French side, no miracles yet. Pierre Gasly is 16th, a little over a second behind, when Esteban Ocon is a little further away in 19th position.

Sir Gold Lives Matter at the top of the timesheet, we haven't been used to it for a long time! It remains to be seen whether this performance will not fade from qualifying this evening then in the race on Sunday as with almost every 2024 GP.
