On Sunday in Miami, the good deal for the mid-pack teams was clearly for WilliamsGrove's team had the fourth best car behind the McLaren, Mercedes et Red Bull. And showed it thanks to an excellent Alex Albon et Carlos Sainz.
Starting 7th behind his teammate, the Thai driver ultimately finished in 5th place. While the latter did not hide his satisfaction, the Spaniard was not in the same frame of mind. Indeed, the former driver of the Team finished in ninth place... behind the two Ferraris. After the race, he felt he could have done much better.
But that was not possible due to several factors. I feel like today we missed out on some big points. But I knew that starting on tires that had four laps, while the others were on new tires, would slow me down and make me vulnerable.", he admitted to the F1 microphone.

Sainz: "I lost a lot of confidence here"
He then explains that he has "suffered damage from the third turn, following slight contact", with his teammate. "My first stint was very difficult with the worn tires and the damaged car. Afterwards I tried to hang on and did everything I could to stay ahead of the Ferraris. But with the damage and having to pit earlier than the others to put on new tires, it was very difficult.", he assured again.
"That's why I'm frustrated, Sainz said. I feel like we should have scored more points." His frustration doesn't stop there. According to him, Alex Albon didn't respect the team's order to freeze the positions while the Spaniard was ahead of him.
So, in front of certain media, at the end of the GP, he did not mince his words: "That's not how I race. I don't care. I lost a lot of confidence here, about everything."
Still happy to have fought against Ferrari and Mercedes
Despite everything, he takes away a lot of positives. Especially the fact that he was able to compete against the best teams on the grid. "There will be circuits where we might have that opportunity again. And I want to be the first to seize it. At other circuits, we'll be back in the middle of the pack." was he still advancing to the microphone of the F1
"This weekend it was nice to see that we were able to fight against the Mercedes and Ferraris. I even had the impression that at times we were faster than them." Finally, Carlos Sainz returned to the battle, in the last lap, with Lewis Hamilton. « My maneuver probably surprised him. in the last bend, especially since we were at the limit,” he concluded.

Sainz is not a champion of following instructions...so not whining too much would be better.
