Carlos Sainz extended for 2017

The next 2017 campaign in F1 will see Carlos Sainz at the wheel of the future car Toro Rosso, which will receive a V6 turbo / hybrid Power Unit Renault replacing the block Ferrari seen this year in STR11.

« We exercised the option earlier this week, so he is engaged with Red Bull for an additional 12 months, said Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, quoted by the discipline's website.

Like all our drivers, he is under contract with Red Bull Racing, and we have the ability to place them where we want them. Currently, Carlos is with Toro Rosso, which is expected to remain his team next year. We had until the end of the year to exercise the option, and we chose to do it early to reassure him. »

Aligned alongside Max Verstappen at the start of the year within the Faenza team, the Spaniard saw the Dutchman promoted to Red Bull Racing to replace Daniil Kvyat, who arrived in the STR11 seat of the new prodigy of the discipline.

The transfer market should start to come alive during this summer period. The future of Kimi Räikkönen remains in the balance in the Ferrari fold, Sergio Marchionne, president of Ferrari, admitting that performance of the Finn would be decisive for his future at Maranello.
