Carlos Sainz, his first days at Grove with Williams

It was January 15th, in Oxfordshire. After a first contact in Abu Dhabi, the Spaniard entered his new life as a Williams driver by setting foot on the ground of the historic British factory. First post-Ferrari emotions.

He hadn't planned to discover the factory Williams so early in January, but his father's premature retirement from the Dakar (see pages 66-77) gave him the opportunity to anticipate his arrival. So, rather than witness the arrival of the rally in Shubaytah in Saudi Arabia, he preferred to go to Grove in the famous Motorsport Valley. In the past, he had not been further than Woking in Surrey. Williams after McLaren et Ferrari, there are few drivers who have been to the three most glorious teams on the planet. Formula 1 : Jacky Ickx, Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost.

A sacred trio to which he comes to lend his voice. Certainly, the emblematic stable of Sir Frank is no longer, for a long time, the structure

Far fewer articles and reports on Sainz's arrival at Williams Racing compared to the multitude of reports and images on Sir Lewis's debut at the Scuderia!
