Deprived of end-of-season testing by the FIA, Carlos Sainz had the opportunity to board a car Ferrari for the first time. This Wednesday, the former Woking put on his red suit and stormed the Fiorano track.
On the Scuderia test circuit, the 25-year-old from Madrid completed more than a hundred laps at the wheel of the SF71H used during the 2018 season. Carlos Sainz worked with his new engineers but also on the different procedures of the single-seater.
« It's a day I will never forget! » , proclaims the teammate of Charles Leclerc. " This morning (Wednesday), the alarm sounded at dawn because we had a few meetings before hitting the trail. One of the most special moments was when I arrived at the circuit and saw the Ferrari with my number 55. I couldn't wait to get in it. This first round of setup was fantastic.

Then we got to work and I am very happy with how the day went. We were able to complete a vast program and I was able to familiarize myself with the configuration, the engineers, the mechanics, the steering wheel and even the procedures which are obviously different compared to the car I drove last season ».
Carlos Sainz will continue his tests aboard the SF71H this Thursday morning before Mick Schumacher (regular at Haas F1 Team and member of the Ferrari Driver Academy) will take over in the afternoon and Friday morning. Callum Illot (reserve driver) will end the week with a session on Friday afternoon.
