Carlos Sainz: “A healthy rivalry”

The pilots Toro Rosso were unanimous on arrival. The final result of the Faenza team, 9th and 10th, did not live up to their expectations, especially after successful qualifying.

A time stuck behind the Renault R.S.16 from Jolyon Palmer, the Toro Rosso lost precious time causing the annoyance of Max Verstappen, already delayed by a poorly anticipated stoppage by his team. The Dutchman finally came into contact with his teammate at turn 15, spinning off in the process.

" I think it is a healthy rivalry, confesses Sainz. For my part, I have absolutely no problem with anyone. There wasn't much radio communication. I just knew I was behind Jolyon Palmer, I was told to attack and I passed him.

Then I arrived on the Williams de Bottas and they were very fast in a straight line. I overtook eight or ten cars, I think, it was just harder with some. It’s not an easy track to overtake. »
