Caterham F1 takes Rossi and Qing Hua as reserves

Caterham F1 Team has announced Alexander Rossi and Ma Qing Hua as reserve drivers. The American will take part in several free practice sessions while the Chinese will complete the GP2 Series season with Caterham Racing.

Caterham F1 takes Rossi and Qing Hua as reserves

Caterham F1 Team retained Alexander Red and Ma Qing Hua as reserve drivers for 2013. The American retains his status with the Malaysian team after making his debut at the Abu Dhabi young driver test in 2011 and serving as test driver for the season following by participating in his first free practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix. The 21-year-old Californian who defended the colors of Tony Fernandes’ team in Formula Renault 3.5 Series will run several free practice sessions on Fridays this season. “After numerous discussions with Caterham F1 Team regarding my program for 2013, this announcement brings me closer to my goal of racing in F1.”, comments the Auburn native. “This year will be my third season with Caterham and I have built a strong relationship with this team. I will try to learn as much as possible during the trials while fulfilling the set objectives, constantly being ready to seize the next opportunity. »

Ma Qing Hua managed to gain the trust of Caterham who also offered him a wheel for the next GP2 Series season, the Chinese having competed in the Jerez tests alongside Sergio Canamasas after discovering F1 with the former HRT team. The 25-year-old Shanghainese will also take part in the first practice session for his national Grand Prix. “Caterham F1 Team and Caterham Racing provide me with the opportunity to develop in the right direction and I look forward to playing an important role in helping the team achieve these goals for the season.
