Caterham F1 Team restructures for 2014

While Caterham F1 Team is still seeking to recover tenth place in the Championship occupied by its rival Marussia, the Malaysian team is restructuring to prepare for the 2014 season where the technical challenge will be particularly met with the new V6 1.6l T/H engine. After extending his contract for three years with Renault Sport F1, Tony Fernandes' structure is reorganizing in its technical department.

Jody Egginton, who until now held the position of Director of Operations, has been promoted to Deputy Technical Director to support Technical Director Mark Smith. He joined Caterham F1 Team in 2009 as chief engineer before moving to operations director last year. “Jody has many years of experience on the pit wall and in the factory which will be invaluable to our team in the latter stages of the 2013 season and even more so for 2014.”, comments the Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul.

John Iley will retain his role as Performance Director, also managing the Advanced Projects Group to create innovative team concepts at the Caterham Group. He will also assist Mark Smith and Cyril Abiteboul in the management of technical partnerships linking Caterham F1 Team with Renault Sport F1 and Red Bull Technology. “John's role will also allow him to have an overview of our performance characteristics and to innovate, an essential parameter in F1 but which requires resources difficult to implement, particularly for a young team like ours”, added the Frenchman.
