Caterham lays off staff ahead of Abu Dhabi

If Caterham F1 Team confirmed its presence at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on November 23 by extending its crowdfunding, the administrators confirmed the dismissal of a large part of the staff, i.e. 230 people. The future of the Leafield team therefore remains dependent on the acquisition of a potential buyer that management is still actively seeking by extending its activities.

“We are going to Abu Dhabi to run and talk to potential buyers. Meetings are already planned », assured Finbarr O'Connell, the administrator of Caterham Sport Ltd, to the Reuters agency. “Firing the staff was the best solution since they were no longer receiving any money, in the hope that a buyer would take over the orders and pay salaries again. »

Caterham F1 Team has reached 81% of its target with crowdfunding pushed back a week. The British team has not yet confirmed its drivers for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
