There were five of them, now there are six. Fernando Alonso passed the milestone of 100 career podiums in Formula 1, making him the sixth pilot to achieve this symbolic value. Thanks to a Aston Martin particularly efficient this year, he has two podiums in two Grands Prix for the start of the 2023 season. A perfect balance sheet, which was almost tainted for non-compliance with a penalty following a bad placement on the grid in Saudi Arabia but, after multiple return trips, Alonso has three figures in his number of podiums.

In front of him, other world champions in the premier category occupy the first five places. Which also makes the Spanish driver the one having recorded the most starts before securing 100 entries in the top 3. He needed 358 Grands Prix, compared to 285 for Kimi Raïkkönen or 164 for Michael Schumacher.

100 podiums for 5 different teams

The Bull of Asturias, new kid on the table of 100 podiums, can at least congratulate himself on having passed this symbolic milestone with no less than five different teams. If it is at Ferrari that he places the most times in the top 3 (44 podiums), his best ratio is for the moment written in the green of Aston Martin: 100% of his starts have been converted into podiums.

And given the performance of his AMR23, the Spaniard shouldn't stop there. Alone in a position to compete with both Red Bull, the longest season in Formula 1 history will certainly see him surpass Raïkkönen and Cheers in ranking.
