2026 F1 Championship – Standings after the Chinese GP Sprint

George Russell is off to a fantastic start this season. Pole-sitter and winner in Australia, the Briton has begun the Chinese Grand Prix weekend in the same vein. After securing his first career pole position in sprint qualifying, the Briton dominated the first race of the weekend, though not without a struggle against the... This perfect record allows George Russell to extend his lead in the championship standings: after one Grand Prix and one Sprint race, he already has an 11-point advantage over his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who is joined by Charles Leclerc, also with 22 points. Antonelli sees the Monegasque driver closing the gap, as his sprint race was difficult, due in particular to a poor start and a collision he caused with Isack Hadjar.

Slowed by the damage to his carThe Frenchman is still waiting to open his account with Red Bullwho did not score a single point during the Sprint (Verstappen finished 9th, just outside the points). In contrast, Liam Lawson scored his first points of the season, taking 7th place in the Shanghai Sprint thanks to a daring strategy. The New Zealander, who was even fifth at one point, did not return to the pits during the safety car period brought out by Nico Hulkenberg.

For his part, Oliver Bearman, 8th in the Sprint, is one of only six drivers to have scored points in the first two races of the season, along with Russell, Leclerc, Hamilton, Norris and Antonelli. That's all! The Briton is now just one length behind Max Verstappen and continues to impress.
