Chandhok: “The season promises to be difficult”

Karun Chandhok is competing in the World Championship Formula 1 different from that of Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher ou Fernando Alonso. If the World Champions aim for victory in each race, Karun Chandhok first seeks to finish one. In Bahrain, the Indian driver, driving a Dallara-HRT, had to retire shortly after the start, not having had enough time to learn the turns during free practice and qualifying. Normally, Chandhok had only covered four laps of the track before the start of the Grand Prix.

« I knew my debut in F1 was going to be difficult, he frankly admits to Times of India. But I never imagined it was going to be as difficult as it was. It's not what I had imagined for my first outing in F1 but, unfortunately, it is like that. »

Despite everything, Chandhok does not regret arriving in F1 in Bahrain, even to do just a few laps. The Indian is already happy with the welcome he received. “ The paddock was very welcoming. Most of the pilots greeted me by saying “welcome to the club”. »

« The best moment was the pilots parade, continues an amazed Chandhok. Later, my mother pointed out to me that only 24 people in the world were part of this small group. It?s quite nice to be there »

Despite this satisfaction, Chandhok does not forget his primary objective: to be more efficient from the Australian Grand Prix. But the task will not be easy to accomplish. “ This season is going to be difficult and I will need all the support I can get. »
