Engine change for Sainz after scare in Hungary

Big alert at Ferrari after Friday. Following routine checks in the evening, the engine Carlos Sainz showed worrying signs. Enough to convince the Team to change the power unit of the Spanish driver. This is the third engine for him this season, the last authorized by the regulations, and therefore does not yet incur a penalty. In addition, the engineers had to break the curfew in order to intervene on the car flanked by the number 55. As a reminder, each team can benefit from two wild cards during the season in order to break the curfew. This is the first for Ferrari.
“Before coming to Hungary, we knew it would be complicated, expresses Sainz. When we look at the characteristics of the car, we knew that with the circuit corners it would not be a weekend for us. This was confirmed on Friday. »
It remains to be seen if there are no other problems with the SF21. Sainz will have the opportunity to check the proper functioning of his car during FP3 which will begin at 12:00 p.m.
