Charles Leclerc: “It was moving”

Many will remember the honorary best time at the end of this day of driving, but Charles Leclerc also focused on the symbol that this Wednesday, November 28, represented in his career.

The neo-pilot of the Team Ferrari achieved a major goal after going through the junior series in F3, GP3 and FIA F2, with the titles in these last two championships, all under the protection of the Ferrari Driver Academy.

« Of course it was moving, underlines Leclerc. Because driving a Ferrari is special and it was a day I had been waiting for for so long without being sure it would happen.

I'm happy with that and the work we've done. We have completed our entire program focused on comparison tests between the 2018 tire and that of next year.

For me it was important because I also got to know the team better, even if some of them are not unknown to me given my time at the Ferrari Driver Academy. Over the next few weeks, I will work to be in the best possible shape and learn from the team and my teammate. »

The Monegasque achieved the best time in 1'36″450 with the 2019 hyper-soft tires, the reference for these two days of testing, improving the time established yesterday by Sebastian Vettel. It is now up to him to confirm in 2019 the hopes placed in him by the Scuderia, which is chasing a title in F1 since 2008.
