Charles Leclerc concludes Abu Dhabi tests in the lead

The last, honorary, timesheet for the 2018 season delivered its verdict this Wednesday on the Yas Marina route in Abu Dhabi. For the final driving session dedicated to discovering the 2019 Pirelli tires, Charles Leclerc placed his Ferrari SF71H at the top of the ranking, with a time achieved in the morning.

The former resident of Alfa Romeo Clean F1 Team ends the day with the best time in 1’36”450, almost four tenths faster than his teammate Sebastian Vettel yesterday, and after 133 laps completed. Pirelli said Leclerc set his best lap on the hyper-soft tires in their 2019 version.

The Monegasque was a bit alone in the world in terms of pure performance, since his closest pursuer, Pierre Gasly (Red Bull), points at 1″4. The master trio of the day is completed by Lance stroll (Racing Point Force India).

follow Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Carlos Sainz (McLaren), the most frequent driver with 147 passages on the line. Artem Markelov (Renault) finished 6th ahead of George Russell (Williams), Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso), Louis Delétraz (Haas F1 Team), Robert Kubica (Williams) and Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo Sauber), victims of a small technical damage to his car.

The F1 peloton will now meet again on February 18 for the first day of 2019 winter testing, with the new single-seaters which will have been unveiled in the preamble, or the same morning.
