Charles Leclerc: “I’m ready for F1”

Member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2016, Charles Leclerc quickly established himself as the reference driver of this program and carried out a day of testing with the SF16-H at Silverstone. A year later, he got back behind the wheel of the Ferrari 2017 tests in Hungary which he finished with the best time.

« It's awesome !, exclaims the Monegasque. It feels really good to come back to a F1 and being with Ferrari is something so special that you can't put it into words. It was a very good morning, I love the car, I can attack with it and it’s exactly what I want from a racing car. It suits me quite well and I like it a lot. »

Dominating the championship with an iron fist F2, Charles Leclerc could be the first rookie since Nico Hulkenberg in 2009 to win what was then GP2. He could also be the first to achieve the GP3/F2 double after his title last year with ART GP, also as a rookie.

« I have completed all the possible steps in promotional formulas so I feel ready. It's still a long way to F1 but I've done everything I had to do and I think I have nothing left to climb."

With the renewal of the contract between Ferrari and Sauber concerning the engine of the Swiss team, the Monegasque could arrive as a starter in F1 from next season.
