It is not a surprise : Ferrari decided to use new components on the power unit of Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque is therefore penalized again and will start at the back of the grid on Sunday, at the Canadian Grand Prix.

Friday night, the Scuderia had already decided to use a 3rd electronic control unit on the Monegasque's car, which earned a first penalty of 10 places on the grid.

On Saturday, before Free Practice 3, the Italian team stocked up on new components for car no. 16: 4th internal combustion engine (ICE), 4th turbocharger (TC), 4th MGU-K and 4th MGU- H. A strategic choice to be able to approach the rest of the season with a little more reserve and serenity.

Ferrari also decided to change the engine Carlos Sainz, but the Spaniard will not be penalized since it is his third engine out of the three authorized for the season.

Charles Leclerc will therefore be forced to start at the back of the grid, just like Yuki tsunoda, also penalized. The two drivers will start either 19th or 20th. Their position on the grid will be determined by their ranking at the end of qualifying (22 p.m. French time).
