Charles Leclerc: “No weight on my shoulders”

For the 90th anniversary of the Team Ferrari, Maranello hopes to reconnect with the success that has been fleeing Italy since 2008 and one last Constructors' title won with Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa.

The Finn will be replaced this year by the Monegasques Charles Leclerc, which will form with Sebastian Vettel a highly anticipated duo.

Building on a first season in F1 largely successful with Alfa Romeo Sauber in 2018, Leclerc continues his career in an environment where the pressure will be much greater. But the main person concerned seems for the moment to be impervious to this parameter.

« I don't feel any weight on my shoulders, confesses Leclerc on the sidelines of the presentation of the SF90, and quoted by Sky Sports. I don't want to feel it, I don't want to think about it. I just think about the work I have to do behind the wheel, and here at the factory.

It's a big structure, with a lot of people and I have to take the time to get to know each of them. I have to work as hard as I can, and harder than ever. »

The relationship between Leclerc and Vettel will also be closely scrutinized. “Seb has been extremely welcoming from the start, continues the Monegasque. We've known each other for quite some time, because I was in the Ferrari Driver Academy and working on the simulator for him.

We'll each be in our own side of the garage, but it's going to be exciting. I will definitely be able to learn from him. »
